  • Mountlake Terrace
  • Lynnwood
  • South Everett
  • Redmond

Each camp is limited to twenty players aged 8-10 and twenty players aged 10-12 and are a week long (M-F) running three hours per day, either 9am - Noon or 1pm to 4pm.

Play the Game Sandlot Summer Camp staff members have experience in Professional, NCAA Division I and Junior College Baseball. Camp Director Mark Linden Bio is recognized as one of the finest teachers of the game in the Puget Sound area. The philosophy of Baseball Positive is that baseball is best learned by playing games; and playing games is the most fun for the kids! The sandlot format ensures that each player bats ~50 times over the course of the week, runs the bases dozens of times and participates in scores of defensive situations. Its nearly a season's worth of play packed into a week!

Participants are divided into teams with each team having their own coach/instructor. Instructors are college age ballplayers who do all the pitching from a short distance ensuring that the ball is always in play and that the participants are constantly in motion, having fun and improving their skills. Coach Mark leads all instruction and roams during game play providing additional individual and team instruction.

Each three hour session is divided into two halves comprised of a 15 minute instructional period followed by 70 minutes of game play; there is a 10 minute half time break. Each instructional period focuses on a specific individual or team skill. Teaching continues throughout each day based on game occurrences.

Over the course of the week, participants learn comprehensive batting, throwing and fielding mechanics as well as coordinated team play. Team instruction includes communication, relays, rundowns and common defensive situations.

WHAT THE PROS ARE SAYING ABOUT THE VALUE OF PLAYING the GAME:

"Baseball is a game of repetition. Young players these days do not get the repetitions they need to truly reach their potential. Getting those repetitions in a game environment is the best way to learn the game and improve."
- John Halama, 9 year Major League Pitcher, former Mariner

"The game environment, where you have to adjust to different situations and where you have to react and make the plays - that is where you get better at baseball."
- Brian Wilson, 4 year Major Leaguer; 2008 All-Star Closer, Giants

"Nothing can duplicate the game environment. That is where instincts are developed and that is where you really learn to play the game."
- Will Cordero, 14 year Major Leaguer; Major League All-Star

"Growing up, all we did was play and play and play baseball. I have no doubt that the game environment had the greatest impact, for me and those I play with today, in developing our skills."
- Todd Linden, 5 year Major League Outfielder: Giants and Marlins

"Play, play and play more. The more games you play the better you get."
- Armando Benitez, 15 year Major League Closer, Two-time Major League All-Star, World Series Participant, 289 Career Saves

"Playing the game is where you truly get better. And that is what is most fun; playing the game."
- Jason Tyner, 7 year Major League Outfielder: Mets, Rays, Twins
